SCOE’s state-of-the-art data center is connected to the Internet and the California K-12 High Speed Network at speeds of up to 10 Gigabits per second (10Gbps). It also employs a redundant Gigabit connection to the El Dorado County Office of Education. The data center utilizes enterprise-level Dell blade servers and Storage Area Networks (SAN) technologies and a 10 Gigabit Juniper network infrastructure to provide a fast and reliable physical framework for our virtual server farm. The VMware virtual server infrastructure also provides High Availability to protect servers from hardware failures or network outages. In addition, nearly all physical server maintenance can be performed at any time without affecting the virtual server farm. All servers are backed up on a nightly basis using Unitrends backup software technology. To further ensure uninterupted service, the data center has redundant 15 ton air conditioners, a Leibert battery backup system, a high tech fire supression system, and a generator that can keep all systems running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
