Where are your classes offered?
ROP classes are located throughout Sacramento county on high school campuses and other community sites. In a typical ROP course, students receive classroom orientation and instruction, followed by placement at a training site four days a week, returning to the classroom one day a week. Sites are chosen according to the type of class, for example hospitals or doctor's offices for medical classes, auto dealerships for auto classes, business settings for computer classes or shopping malls for retail classes. Students provide their own transportation to all training sites.

Can you help me find a job?
ROP instructors have at least five years experience in their field; many have several decades. Our teachers have links to many businesses in the community who often hire ROP students and graduates who have attained the necessary skills in their chosen profession. These teachers stay abreast of current trends in business and industry through advisory committees comprising working professionals, managers and owners from their career field. Advisory committee members provide valuable advice on updating curriculum, refitting equipment, and emerging employment standards.

California business has come to appreciate our reputation for providing qualified applicants for employment. We partner with agencies in the community that provide job development services, such as the Sacramento Works One-Stop Career Centers. Every student who graduates from an ROP class is provided a certificate of completion and a skill sheet to document their achievements and assist them in their job search.

While job placement is not guaranteed, ROP graduates are frequently offered employment with the businesses where they complete their internships. Our surveys show that ROP graduates are far more likely to find employment in their chosen profession than those who have not completed a training program.
